Spanning almost seven miles in the southwest prefecture of Tokyo, Japan, Inagi City is home to about 92,000 residents. After incorporation in 1971, Inagi City is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – likewise to Foster City, California. Today, it shares similar values to that of Foster City, such as an emphasis on parks and open green spaces throughout its city, as well as the importance of sports and education programs in aiding youth development.
Representatives from the two cities have collaborated to lay the foundation and create the Foster City Sister City Association (FCSCA). The FCSCA serves as the lead contact group for the relationship with Inagi City, and manages and coordinates associated delegation visits, exchanges and events in the future.
